Postpartum Depression

The Labor and Delivery nurses at Methodist Hospital join us in supporting you in your birth journey. With ambulatory monitoring we can evaluate your baby's heartbeat and your contractions while you remain free to move around. Delayed cord clamping at the time of birth is a routine option, and of course, your partner can "cut the cord." We even coach you on the best photo opportunities!

During the "Golden Hour" after birth you or your partner are encouraged to place the baby on your chest - "skin to skin" - for warmth and comfort. Certified lactation consultants will assist you during your hospitalization, and are available for additional appointments (at no charge) after you go home.

If the situation arises in which cesarean delivery is indicated: be assured that the physicians of Seven Oaks Women's Center support family centered cesareans and skin to skin contact soon after the birth! We've been doing our version of family centered cesareans since before it was "a thing!" And the friendly anesthesiologists from Spillar Anesthesia offer obstetric anesthetic services 24/7, and remain "in house."

Your delivery is just the beginning. We want it to be a positive start on your journey through parenthood! We continue to see you daily until you are released from the hospital and then in follow up at our office. We look forward to seeing you for your well woman examinations on an ongoing basis and hearing about how your "Little One" is growing up!
