BOTOX Cosmetic, scientifically known as onabotulinumtoxinA, is an FDA-approved injectable that temporarily reduces moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles into barely visible blemishes.

It takes about 10 minutes for the procedure to happen and within just a few days the lines and wrinkles on the face smooth away and stay away for up to several months.

What BOTOX Cosmetic Does

Botox is what is known as a neuromodulator. The scientific name is derived from the protein that makes it effective; botulinum toxin type A. When this is injected into the skin it helps to block the transmission signals between nerve endings and muscles. It actually paralyzes the muscles for a temporary span of time. When the paralysis happens, it inhibits the activation of muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles to appear.

BOTOX reduces moderate to severe:

  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Horizontal forehead lines

Dynamic wrinkles are caused by muscles in the face that overwork during various events of everyday life. For example, some wrinkles are caused by a person continually contracting the facial muscles that engage during frowning.

Dynamic wrinkles can also be caused by squinting, grimacing, and other continued overuse of facial muscles. One of the biggest causes of dynamic wrinkles is squinting because it causes the brow to furrow for extended periods of time. Smoking is also associated with dynamic wrinkle formation.

BOTOX is injected into specifically targeted areas that will address the muscles that cause the wrinkles to appear. Your provider will carefully examine your wrinkles, identify the cause of them, then strategically administer the injections in a way that is most beneficial for you.

Although it is possible to see immediate results, it does take two or three days for the wrinkles to completely fade away.

Facial rejuvenation

The First Step

The first step towards your facial rejuvenation is to set an appointment with one of our offices and receive a consultation. One of our skilled health professionals will carefully assess your health history and determine any risks or concerns that could be an issue with your treatment.

From there we will perform a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation of your facial condition including the causes and origins of your existing wrinkles.

The Next Steps

Once you set an appointment for treatment you will come to the office where we will be able to carefully mark out the injection sites on your face that are best suited for your treatment plan.

The procedure itself will not take longer than 30 minutes from the time you check-in to the time that you leave. This is a simple in-and-out appointment with minimal downtime.
