Laboratory Testing

On-Site Lab Testing

Information gained through appropriate laboratory specimens is essential to the proper evaluation and management of your medical conditions. Therefore, we send our patients to accredited laboratories that use only the most up to date equipment and protocols available.

Most laboratory testing is performed at Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL), with a collection site conveniently located in Suite 504 of the Oak Hills Medical Building. Quest Diagnostics also has a blood drawing center in Suite 506. You will be given the necessary lab request forms at the time of your visit with instructions for any special preparation.

Additional Testing Options

Sometimes the labs need to be collected on a different day or time. Or your insurance may require you to use a specific lab provider. Information about other lab drawing centers and their hours can be found at the following websites.

If you live outside the immediate San Antonio area, let us know and we can help make arrangements to have your labs drawn at a location near you. Call 210-692-9500 if you have any questions.

Your Lab Results

Our goal is to make sure you know the results of anything we order or send on your behalf. Most results will be available 7-10 days from the date they were collected.

Seven Oaks Women's Center primarily uses the Patient Portal to give you access to labs or pap smear results. Please log on to your Portal account and review your labs under "Summary" on the side bar of the portal page. If you don't have access to the Portal, please contact our office at 210-692-9500 and ask an operator to send you an invitation for access.

Labs Drawn During Your Visit

Indicated labs can be drawn at the time of your visit at the lab drawing center conveniently located in our building or at other centers at times and locations that best serve your needs. And these conditions can be further evaluated in house by our accredited ultrasonography.

Once the evaluation is completed, your physician will discuss your options for treatment which in most cases will begin with a medical approach. We will provide a comprehensive approach to discuss all options including exercise, diet and nutritional guidelines. If your situation is best served by surgery, you can be assured that our physicians are well trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive surgery. Most of these procedures can be done in an outpatient setting or involve only a short stay in the hospital. We also offer several procedures in the comfort of our office resulting in significant cost savings to our patients. (See the In-Office Procedures page.)

Laboratories other than CPL

Interpreting the Results

If your labs were sent to evaluate a medical condition or complaint, we'll address this when we discuss your results. We will help you understand your lab results, your normal or abnormal Pap smear results, and work closely with you on your options. At other times, the labs may be just a part of preventative care.

If you want to know what your labs mean, a helpful resource is Lab Tests Online. You'll find interesting information about the tests that were sent and what the results mean.
